The studios will be fabulous. They'll be professionally outfitted in every respect: Sprung floors, marley surfaces, portable barres, and an outstanding sound system. We also have plans to add a class pianist -- that's right, a class pianist -- down the road.

The fact is BCA's dance training facility will be the entire package: Conveniently located, state-of-the-art, and designed by seasoned ballet professionals. Angie and Wayne have set the bar high -- and they won't settle for anything less.

About BCA

Ballet Conservatory of Asheville (BCA) offers dance programs for children, teens/adults, and pre-professionals. These programs include classes in nearly all major dance forms, including ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, broadway jazz, hip-hop, and modern. We want our students to gain good technique, learn proper class etiquette, and enjoy the wonderful world of dance. We produce the Nutcracker each year and a Spring ballet. Our performances are produced at Asheville's Diana Wortham Theatre, widely considered to be one of the finest dance venues in the U.S.  Our summer programs include open classes and workshops plus a month-long, all-day ballet training intensive.

BCA is headed by Director Angie Lynn and Ballet Master Wayne Burritt. Both are former professional dancers who hold advanced degrees and who bring a rich background in ballet and other dance forms to the leadership of BCA. Angie, Wayne, and Christopher Lynn -- Managing Director and acting instructor -- founded BCA in 2009.

While BCA offers classes in all disciplines, we are primarily a ballet school with a strong Pre-Professional division. Our classes are based on a unique and effective blend of the highest calibre ballet training programs including the Royal School, the American School, and the Vaganova (Russian) School. We use the ballets from the unparalleled Russian tradition -- such as Giselle, Nutcracker, and Coppelia -- to provide crucial performing and training opportunities for our students. Our experience has shown that serious dancers trained by our methods have encountered outstanding professional placement opportunities.

Class Attendance

Attending class is the responsibility of each student. It is important to attend all classes in order to progress with training. Classes missed due to sickness, school holidays and other obligations may be made up in another class. Classes missed due to BCA rehearsals, performances or other unavoidable events will be rescheduled. Please inform us if you will be missing a lesson.  Students are expected to arrive at the studio on time for the start of their class. Credit or refunds will not be given for classes not attended.

Facilities

We ask students and families to please respect the facilities. No Food or Drink allowed in the actual studio. Please pick up after yourselves and throw away trash. Adequate supervision should be provided for siblings. Please check that you have all of your belongings before you leave.  Clothes left for more than a few weeks will be taken to a donation center.

Make Up Classes

We encourage students to make up missed lessons. We ask that you call the office if you plan to attend a make-up lesson. Classes must be made up within 30 days of the missed lesson. In the case of inclement weather call the studio or check the BCA website -- there will be a message stating if we will be holding classes. We do not necessarily follow the school systems. Classes missed due to weather will not be rescheduled, but you are welcome to make it up in another class.

Parent /Teacher Communication

Teachers are always happy to speak with parents!  We will make every effort to keep you informed.  If needed you may call or email the office to schedule a convenient time for a conference. It is sometimes difficult to speak at length between classes, as this delays the start of the next class.

Pre-Professionals

Dancers enrolled in the pre-professional program should consult the Pre-Pro Handbook and Pre-Pro Contract for more information. Learn more about BCA's Pre-Professional division.

Recital

The recital will be Sunday, May 20, 2012.  The recital highlights our students and participation is encouraged. We assume you will be participating in the recital unless written notice is given to the office prior to February 1, 2012.
